Job Description: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer
Department: Sports and Athletics
Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Trainer in the delivery of healthcare services to student-athletes participating in sports programs. The primary focus of this role is to provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services to student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer works closely with coaches, team physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the overall well-being and safety of student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of sports-related injuries and illnesses.
2. Provide immediate care and first aid to injured student-athletes during practices and competitions.
3. Conduct comprehensive evaluations of injuries and collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer to develop appropriate treatment plans.
4. Administer therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation programs to promote recovery and optimize performance.
5. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of all treatment and rehabilitation activities.
6. Communicate effectively with coaches, team physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient care for student-athletes.
7. Educate student-athletes on injury prevention strategies, rehabilitation exercises, and proper nutrition and hydration practices.
8. Assist with the management and maintenance of athletic training facilities, equipment, and supplies.
9. Adhere to all professional standards, guidelines, and ethical principles set forth by relevant governing bodies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
2. National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certification.
3. State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
4. CPR and First Aid certification.
5. Strong knowledge of sports medicine principles, injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques.
6. Proficient in the use of therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation equipment.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, coaches, and healthcare professionals.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
9. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
